Pet Owners
When we’re first contacted and told of a pet in need, our whole
team goes straight to work! Someone will work with you to get
your loved one scheduled in a timely manner.
Sometimes that will mean starting with a virtual appointment, as this is often the quickest route to diagnostics and treatment. We then obtain all pertinent medical records from your pet’s primary care veterinarian so that Dr. Rizzo can become familiar with your pet’s diagnosis (or suspected diagnosis) before she meets you. We ask that you participate in this early stage by filling out our “Get-to-know-you” paperwork before your appointment. Upon your initial consultation, Dr. Rizzo will learn more about you and your pet. She will discuss your goals and caregiving philosophy with you. Then she will talk with you about your pet’s diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment options.
Do not be fooled by our compact, mobile clinic. We are outfitted with or have access to most technologies needed to learn more about your pet’s cancer, including lab analyzers, X-rays, and ultrasounds. In addition, we can collect additional samples for uncommon lab tests, biopsy, flow cytometry, genetic analysis of tumor tissue, and autologous cancer vaccine production.
Below is a list of the most common dog and cat cancers we see and treat. If you do not see the type of cancer your pet has been diagnosed with, please know that Dr. Rizzo can help you better understand any cancer diagnosis your pet has been given or is suspected of having.
- Lymphoma
- Leukemia
- Mast Cell Tumor
- Osteosarcoma
- Hemangiosarcoma
- Histiocytic Sarcoma
- Soft Tissue Sarcoma
- Squamous Cell Carcinoma
- Mammary Tumors
Cancer treatments for our canine and feline friends have advanced significantly in the past 5 years. So, if you’re afraid of chemotherapy or don’t want to treat your pet with chemo, we still have a lot to talk about. This includes but is not limited to:
- Surgery
- Targeted therapy
- Immunotherapy
- Immune support through diet and supplements
- Holistic/natural cancer remedies
- Pain management
- Medications
- Supplements
- Rehabilitation
- Acupuncture
- And yes, we definitely offer chemotherapy, but it’s not always the best option
